Used Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM (Nikon AF)

The Sigma 18-250mm f3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM lens is designed and optimised exclusively for APS-C Format Digital SLR cameras. Its high zoom ratio and compact size have been the result of the application of the latest optical, materials and motor technologies.

Completely Re-Designed for Compactness
Structurally redesigned for compactness and performance, the 18-250mm lens is equipped with a minimum focusing distance of 35cm throughout the zoom range, giving an impressive macro performance of 1:2.9 magnification (APS-C Equivalent 1:2). Double-sided aspherical lens construction also makes for smaller dimensions such as a 62mm filter thread.

Optical Stabiliser
The Optical Image Stabilizer (OS) in this lens gives up to approximately 4 stops’ correction – ideal for sports and even macro photography.

High Tech Construction
This lens is constructed using a special Thermally Stable Composite (TSC). It has been developed and applied to this lens because it has very little contractility over large temperature changes and has excellent firmness as a platform for the lens elements. Owing to its 25% higher elasticity than polycarbonate (the normal material used) and low thermal shrinkage, TSC enables for more precise construction and therefore less bulky design. For durability there is also a Surface Treated Brass-made Bayonet Mount.

Optical Prowess
Includes an SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass element for excellent correction of colour aberrations, as well as three aspherical lenses including a double-sided aspherical lens, correcting all aberrations to a high degree, throughout the zoom range. Super Multi-Layer Coating is employed on optical surfaces for cutting-out flare and ghosting, as well as the lens having a petal hood supplied. The result is higher contrast images and far less need to worry about shooting towards a light source.

Also includes a HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) for fast and quiet focusing, and a rounded 7-blade diaphragm for a truly natural appearance to defocused areas of your image.
